UV-DTF Printing – Printers, Transfers & Film | DIGITRAN

Solutions for UV-DTF Printing

UV-DTF Printer | Transfers | A/B Film | Ink | Clear Coat

UV-DTF is the fastest way to decorate hard surfaces: The design is printed with UV-curable ink, sealed with a protective coating, and then simply applied—without any heat, a press, or pretreatment. All that remains on the product is the ink with its adhesive layer. No foil edges, no visible backing layer.

The solution for custom printing with a tactile effect and a direct-print look.

DIGITRAN supports you every step of the way, from the initial idea to ongoing production. Whether you purchase ready-made UV-DTF transfers or want to start your own production with the DIGITRAN FlexLine DTF600UV: We offer printers, transfers, and coordinated consumables all from a single source—for results that look brilliant and stand up to everyday use.

UV-DTF Solutions and Products

Our products for finishing glass, metal, ceramics, wood, and plastic—from promotional items and cosmetics packaging to water bottles, signs, and machine labeling.

UV-DTF Printer

Produce your own UV-DTF transfers—with the DIGITRAN FlexLine DTF600UV. The printer uses CMYK, white, and a protective clear coat, and thanks to end-to-end color management, it delivers color accuracy that impresses even with corporate colors.

  • 600 mm print width, three print heads, up to 720 × 2400 dpi
  • CMYK + white + clear coat in a single pass
  • Up to 13 m/hr.
  • 6- and 8-pass modes
  • Integrated lamination unit for A/B film
  • White ink agitator and automatic cleaning cycles
  • Fiery Digital Factory RIP software

This allows you to produce runs starting at a batch size of 1—with no setup time, no tools, and no minimum order quantities.

UV-DTF Transfers

Ready-to-use transfers for immediate use, printed with UV-curable inks and supplied with a self-adhesive backing. Apply, press down, peel off the backing film: that’s all it takes. No press, no heat, no pre-treatment.

Three finishes are available:

  • UV Gloss – high-gloss protective coating for an exceptionally brilliant, long-lasting result
  • UV Matte – matte finish without gloss coating, ideal for a subtle product look
  • See Through – semi-transparent, specifically designed for glass and transparent products

No minimum order quantity, with a delivery time of less than five business days and scratch-resistant thanks to the protective coating—for promotional materials, product branding, cosmetic packaging, water bottles, signs, and DIY projects.

UV-DTF Transfer Film – Quick Stick

The film determines the result. Quick Stick is a PET transfer film with a special coating that allows for maximum ink absorption without bleeding and can be peeled off easily and cleanly afterward.

  • Rolls: 100 m long × 62 cm wide
  • Core diameter 3" (76 mm), film thickness approx. 90 µm
  • A/B film system—the print image remains protected by the lamination
  • Printable on one side, compatible with all standard UV-DTF printers
  • No adjustment of printer settings required

Suitable for glass, ceramics, wood, metal, and plastics—from promotional items and cosmetic containers to DIY projects.

How does UV-DTF work?

UV-DTF stands for UV Direct to Film and refers to a two-layer film system. Clear coat, white, and color are printed onto the self-adhesive A-film and immediately cured with UV light after each layer. The B-film is then laminated onto it. The transfer is now complete.

When applied, only the printed color layer with its adhesive layer remains on the product while the backing film is peeled off. This is precisely what distinguishes UV-DTF from a traditional sticker: there is no visible film edge and no border where the design might peel off later. The design looks as if it were printed directly onto the product.

And because the ink cures under UV light rather than drying, the transfer can withstand stress immediately. The final clear coat also makes it scratch- and abrasion-resistant.

How to Apply UV-DTF Transfers Correctly

1. Prepare the Surface

Clean the surface thoroughly and remove any dust and grease residue. The cleaner and drier the surface, the better the transfer will adhere. Depending on the product, isopropyl alcohol, glass cleaner, or similar cleaning agents work well for this.

2. Apply the Transfer

Separate the two films, position the design, and press it down from the center outward so no bubbles form. A felt squeegee can help here! Ideally, the product should already be at room temperature (approx. 70°F / 21°C).

3. Peel Off the Carrier Film

Carefully peel off the transfer film – flat and slowly. For full adhesive strength, we recommend letting the finished product rest for 24 hours afterward. If an air bubble does get trapped, pierce it with a fine needle and push the air out from the outside toward the center.

New Possibilities in Product Finishing: UV-DTF Printing

Products are becoming more personal, runs are getting smaller, lead times shorter. Anyone finishing products today needs a process that keeps pace – with no tooling costs, no minimum quantities, and no weeks of back-and-forth. This is exactly where UV-DTF printing plays to its strengths.
Why UV-DTF rather than direct printing? Because the design is produced independently of the product. You print flat, calmly, and in series, and only afterward decide what the design goes onto. Curved surfaces, delicate containers, ready-packaged goods: everything can be finished without the product ever having to go into a machine. And because no film edge is left behind, the result looks far more premium than any conventional sticker.
Whether promotional items, cosmetics packaging, machine labeling, or your own product branding – we'd be glad to introduce you to our UV-DTF solutions, from ready-made transfers right through to your own printer.
